Event Overview
The Introduction to FETI course, taught by an Advanced CFP-A FETI Instructor over two days, provides instruction on the official FETI Framework, detailing how to correctly conduct a Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview. This presentation discusses the essential elements of a FETI Interview, allowing attendees to immediately apply the knowledge from the training to their professional work.
Attendees who are new to the FETI Methodology or have attended a more abbreviated Certified FETI training course, will find this training to be an educational and interactive way to learn how to conduct a FETI Interview.
This course provides a great foundation for those choosing to participate in more intensive, one-on-one, interview practice at a Practical Application of FETI training. Instruction is provided in a lecture style supported by group practice, examples of the FETI Methodology and facilitated group discussions.
This training, hosted by the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office, will be at the Riverhouse Convention Center (2955 US 97 Business Bend, Oregon 97701) on May 22 – 23, 2024 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm each day.

Who is allowed to register for this course?
Registration is open to all persons 18 years of age and older. No specific professional role is required to attend this event unless otherwise stated in the Event Overview.
Does this course certify me in FETI?
No, this course does not certify you as a Certified FETI Practitioner (CFP). This course is to learn how to conduct a FETI interview. You do receive a certificate of completion for the Introduction to FETI course if you are present for all instruction and complete all required coursework and exercises. To be certified as a FETI Practitioner (Basic, Intermediate or Advanced) you must participate in a separate process were you are evaluated to assess your proficiency and skill level utilizing the FETI Methodology. The Introduction to FETI course is one of the best ways to prepare for that process.
What certificate do I receive after this course?
Each person who successfully completes the Introduction to FETI course (is present for all instruction and completes all required coursework and exercises) receives a Certificate of Course Completion that outlines the course date and number of course hours.
Is there food and beverage provided at this training?
Certified FETI does not provide food or beverages at their training courses. There are multiple breaks and a minimum of one hour allotted for lunch each day of training. Individual host agencies may choose to provide some catering but as that is not facilitated via Certified FETI we are unable to guarantee this offering. Attendees are not limited from bringing food and beverage items unless it is specifically noted in the Event Overview section.
I can no longer attend and the cancellation window has passed. Can a colleague go in my place?
Absolutely. We are happy to facilitate your registration being moved to an alternate person. Please keep in mind that the new registrant will need to meet any prerequisite requirements for the Practical Application of FETI course (online FETI Methodology Course or the in-person Introduction to FETI Course).
Am I required to be present for all course instruction?
If you would like to receive a Certificate of Course Completion you will need to be present for all of the course instruction. This course begins promptly at 9:00 am each day and concludes at 5:00 pm. This includes the final day of training. We are unable to make exceptions for individual travel needs or professional obligations as the course curriculum cannot be tailored to specific individuals.
About the Course
The Introduction to the Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview (FETI®) course provides attendees with an introduction to the FETI Methodology delivered through two days of live instruction by an Advanced Certified FETI Interviewer with significant experience both utilizing and teaching the FETI Methodology.
This course provides instruction on the official FETI Framework™, detailing how to correctly conduct a Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview. All training will provide attendees with the essential elements of a FETI interview, so they are able to immediately apply the knowledge from the training to their professional work.
Event Reminders
- No Prerequisite to attend this training.
- Attendees must be present for the entire training, complete all written coursework and fully participate in all exercises and discussion to continue in the course and receive a certificate of completion.
- The event will be from 9-5pm each day and attendees that miss any portion of the event will not receive a certificate of completion.
- All cancellations must be submitted online through our website more than 21 days before the course begins.

- No dress code. Attendees are encouraged to adhere to their organization’s policy if applicable.
- Food and beverages are not provided, but there is an hour-long break for lunch as well as shorter breaks throughout the day.
