Cohort #PA-110722: The Practical Application of the Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview (Online)
Event Overview
Certified FETI’s Practical Application of the Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview Course provides attendees with 35 hours of instruction within a 10-day cohort that includes five interactive classroom experiences, participation as an interviewer and participant in five interviews each, online independent learning, facilitated review of conducted interviews and documentation practice.
Throughout the course, each attendee will continue to develop and practice the knowledge, skills, and abilities obtained from one of the prerequisite courses; Introduction to FETI, FETI Methodology or Accelerated FETI.
This course does not certify an attendee as a practitioner (CFP-B, CFP-I or CFP-A) of the FETI® Methodology but is recommended as a course to complete prior to attempting any level of certification.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING IN THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF FETI COURSE?
- During the PA FETI course you will have the opportunity to utilize the FETI Methodology in the role of interviewer during five separate, recorded interviews. This allows you to take the information from a FETI learning course for a “test drive” in a training environment that was developed to provide you with opportunities to hear feedback during the classroom sessions from Advanced FETI Instructors about the interview you, and others attending the course, conducted.
- All of the interviews conducted during this course are recorded to enhance learning. Not only do you have the unique opportunity to review all of your interviews during the independent learning sections of the course, you are also able to watch other attendees interviews allowing you to see the variety of methods, questions and cues used by other professionals who employ the FETI Methodology. Our instructors work with numerous people each year and have routinely found the ability to watch back an interview to be one of the best ways to identify the knowledge, skills and abilities of an interviewer. The Practical Application of FETI course is the only instruction available that provides you with this unique, instructor-facilitated, opportunity. All recordings are only accessible to attendees during the 10-day cohort and are deleted at the end of the instruction.
- During the Practical Application of FETI course you are interviewed by a CFP-A (Advanced) FETI Interviewer with a Personal Experience Interview (PEI) designation. The PEI allows you to sit on the other side of the interview and experience the cues, questions and prompts of the FETI Methodology for yourself from a highly skilled advanced FETI Practitioner. This opportunity is consistently identified as the highlight for many attendees of the course. In the words of one of our attendees, “It made the whole FETI methodology make sense.”
- All of your interview participants share real, personal experiences. No role play! Our faculty is made up of professionals who have attended countless interviewing courses over the course of their careers and always were frustrated with the use of scenarios during instruction on interviewing. The PA FETI Course allows you to utilize the FETI Methodology with a participant who is sharing a real experience. Your participant isn’t focused on remembering a fictitious dialogue, allowing the interview session to more accurately reflect how you would utilize the FETI Methodology in your professional role.
- All of the interview participants during this course are attendees of the cohort. This is allows you an important opportunity to experience being interviewed by someone learning how to use the FETI Methodology five separate times. Too often, people learning how to use an interview methodology are not also provided with opportunities to experience what it feels like to be on the other side of an interview. Not only will this help to increase your awareness of the cues, questions and prompts of the FETI Methodology, you will also be able to experience the importance of genuine empathy.
- You will leave the PA FETI Course with a great understanding of how to conduct a virtual interview! After many online cohorts we have come to realize the opportunities for learning the FETI Methodology are expanded in a wonderful way in the virtual training environment. Not only are we now able to provide attendees with a way to watch back all of their interviews (something we always wanted to do during our live trainings), but each person leaves the training having multiple opportunities to test out and increase their online interviewing capabilities. Our faculty conducts hundreds of online interviews each year and they share their lessons learned with each PA FETI cohort.
HOW MUCH TIME DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE THE ENTIRE COURSE?
35 Hours
- Live Classroom Instruction: 17 hours (5 sessions of 3 hours each and 1 session of 2 hours)
- Live Interview Sessions: 8 hours (4 sessions of 2 hours each)
- Independent Review of Interviews and Course Submissions: Estimated 10 hours minimum
The Practical Application of FETI course takes place over ten consecutive days. However, you will not be attending live instruction or independently interacting with course materials for all of those ten days (no required submissions or live sessions on the Saturday and Sunday of the course). Some attendees will choose to review more interviews than is required by the course in order to enhance their learning. Other attendees will complete the minimum requirements. You have flexibility outside of the required submissions and live sessions to do what works best for you as a learner and for the time you have available.
Over the ten days you are required to be present for 5 classroom sessions (17 total live classroom hours) and 4 interview sessions (8 total live hours) for a total of 25 hours you will need to be available online at a specific time. In addition, you will be completing answers to questions within the Certified FETI online Practical Application of FETI Course. In order to complete the answers you will often be required to watch interviews you conducted or interviews where you were the participant. Other than the interviews conducted on day 1 of the course (one 10-minute interview and one 15-minute interview) each interview you conduct will last for a minimum of 30 minutes. As such, when reviewing these interviews for a required online submission we recommend planning to set aside two hours to allow for the review (30 minutes as the Interviewer and 30 minutes as the participant) and answer of questions. We estimate it takes a minimum of ten hours to complete the non-live course requirements that are explained in more detail below.

ATTENDANCE
This course requires completion of all live (online) classroom instruction, interviews, and assignments. It is important to review all dates and times marked LIVE in the cohort’s course schedule prior to registration. There is no ability to make up any missed live session and a course completion certificate will not be available without attending all live instruction.
This course requires access to a reliable Internet connection. You will be required to participate in 1:1 video calling and group video calling. Due to the nature of this course, there is no opportunity to reschedule meeting and interview times that are missed due to connection issues. You are strongly advised to only register for a cohort once you have confirmed you have access to a private area with reliable high-speed Internet during all dates and times listed in the detailed Cohort Agenda as “LIVE”. Missed meetings or interviews will result in an incomplete for the course without refund of monies paid.
More than one person in a single location accessing online video conferencing will significantly reduce your Internet speeds. Be aware of how many other attendees from your location will be registered for the cohort you select before confirming. You will be required to be in fully private and separate space from other attendees in your same location.
The nature of this instruction requires all attendees to list their real first and last name, job title and upload a photograph of their real person to their Certified FETI account for the duration of the course. No avatars, drawings or other graphic representations are permitted.
All trainings are conducted in English. Contact the help desk for options to attend training in another language before registering. Certified FETI strives to make all of our training events accessible to everyone. If you require an accommodation, you must advise us in advance of any needed auxiliary aids or services.
Non-participating attendees will be removed from the course with no refund of registration fee.

Any violation of this will result in a ban from the entire Certified FETI platform without refund of any monies paid. Attendees will be required to confirm, on video, at the start of each session they are in a fully private space.
Due to privacy and facilitation restrictions, attendees from the same organization are not allowed to attend the “LIVE” sessions from the same physical space.
REFUND POLICY
Due to the limited capacity of these events we are unable to refund a token or move you to another cohort if you are currently assigned to a cohort that is within sixty (60) calendar days of starting. We are required to maintain very strict attendance policies at Practical Application of FETI Courses as each attendee directly impacts another attendee’s ability to complete their interviews and coursework. Due to these requirements, there is no ability to accommodate last minute changes or absences for any reason. This includes court subpoena, work obligations or other commitments that conflict unexpectedly with the cohort agenda. You are highly encouraged to determine your ability to make yourself unavailable with courts and employers prior to selecting a seat in a cohort.
